FOOD INSECURITY CHALLENGES

Food insecurity in Arapahoe County is a complex issue shaped by rising living costs, limited access to healthy food, and gaps in community resources. Many individuals and families face daily barriers to securing nutritious meals. By understanding these challenges, we can better support those most impacted and work together toward lasting solutions that improve food access for all.

MISSION & HISTORY

Our mission is to unite a diverse network of partners to eliminate food insecurity in Arapahoe County. We do this by strengthening the capacity of food providers through collaboration, shared resources, and community-centered solutions.

Formed in 2024 in response to growing food access challenges identified in the Arapahoe County Community Health Assessment, the Coalition began as a joint effort among local organizations, service providers, and residents. Through collective action and shared commitment, we continue to build a stronger, more resilient local food system.

In 2025, we published a white paper and summary flyer about these issues. By providing a compelling snapshot of how food insecurity affects this region as well as our efforts to date, we hope you will understand the scope of the situation and support our cause!

PARTNERS

Our partners are the heart of the Arapahoe Food Security Coalition. From food banks, food pantries and hot meal programs, to nonprofit organizations and community advocates, each plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity. Together, we share knowledge, resources, and a deep commitment to building a healthier, more connected food system for all.
