March 2026 Updates
Members of our Food Hub Task Force have been meeting monthly and have begun defining what a food hub could and should mean for our Coalition. Our current focus is identifying the specific needs across transportation, receiving, group purchasing, and storage — and determining where a shared hub could fill existing gaps.
Task force members have already completed site visits to Hearty Provisions, We Don’t Waste, FERN, and The Action Center. We also plan to learn from food hub models in other regions to broaden our perspective. To support this work, we will be fundraising to bring on a contractor who can lead a comprehensive investigative and planning process.
In addition to strong participation from emergency food and meal providers, we’re grateful to have the involvement of city planners, municipal staff, and elected officials. We are actively seeking additional members with professional or personal experience in real estate, warehouse or distribution logistics, business chambers, agriculture, or food procurement.
If you aren’t currently part of the task force but have ideas, expertise, or connections that could support this effort, we would love to hear from you!
